We’re so excited to announce that Boomerangs: Special Edition was honored by the City of Boston and Mayor Marty Walsh as part of the 23rd Annual Boston Main Streets Awards! Mayor Walsh visited our South End location on Monday, July 22 during the Mayor on Main trolley tour and presented Boomerangs staff with the Outstanding Business Owner award.
“I’m excited for another year of the ‘Main on Main’ trolley tour, which is an incredible opportunity to celebrate some of the City’s most dynamic small businesses,” said Mayor Walsh, “Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy and the backbone of our communities – they represent goods and services close to home, first jobs for our young people, and opportunities for our residents. I’m proud of initiatives like Boston Main Streets and business improvement districts, which support our local small business economy and I encourage everyone to visit, support, and explore Boston’s small, local establishments.”
Boston Main Streets provides funding and technical assistance to 20 neighborhood-based Main Streets districts throughout the City of Boston, and has served as a national model for urban areas seeking to revitalize neighborhood commercial districts.
During this trolley stop, Mayor Walsh also honored Chinatown business Nam Pai Martial Arts Academy, who wowed the crowd with a traditional lion dance.
We’d like to thank Mayor Walsh for taking the time to visit us and Washington Gateway Main Streets for nominating Boomerangs for this award! Also, thank you to our neighbor Union Park Pizza for providing us all with some delicious snacks!
Please join us in congratulating the following staff for working so hard to make Boomerangs: SE an award winning business: Cierra Peters, Store Manager, Tams Tidwell, General Manager, Micah Belyea, Assistant Store Manger, Joshua Andrews, Sales Associate, and Jesus Betance, Sales Associative.
